Faith Without Works is?

10/16/2015- When in Doubt, Look to the Gospel of Christ!

Faith without Works is Righteousness?

James: 2.14. What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him? 15. And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food, 16. and one of you tells them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled;” and yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it? 17. Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself. 18. Yes, a man will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works, and I by my works will show you my faith. 19. Young Young believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder. 20. But do you want to know, vain man, that faith apart from works is dead? 21. Wasn’t Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? 22. You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected; 23. and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness;” and he was called the friend of God. 24. You see then that by works, a man is justified, and not only by faith. 25. In the same way, wasn’t Rahab the prostitute also justified by works, in that she received the messengers, and sent them out another way? 26. For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead. – Bible Offline

2 Thessalonians: 2. 1. Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to him, we ask you 2. not to be quickly shaken in your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter as from us, saying that the day of Christ had come. 3. Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the departure comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction, 4. he who opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God. 5. Don’t you remember that, when I was still with you, I told you these things? 6. Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season. 7. For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way. 8. Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth, and destroy by the manifestation of his coming; 9. even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10. and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11. Because of this, God sends them a working of error, that they should believe a lie; 12. that they all might be judged who didn’t believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 13. But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth; 14. to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15. So then, brothers, stand firm, and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word, or by letter. 16. Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, 17. comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word. – Bible Offline

Roman’s 4:15

15. For the law works wrath, for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience. – Bible Offline

-Do we now live without law? Confused? Me too!

1 John: 5. 1. Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever loves the Father also loves the child who is born of him. 2. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments. 3. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous. 4. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith. 5. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 6. This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7. For there are three who testify: 8. the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and the three agree as one. 9. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is God’s testimony which he has testified concerning his Son. 10. He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who doesn’t believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son. 11. The testimony is this, that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12. He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn’t have God’s Son doesn’t have the life. 13. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. 14. This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. 15. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him. 16. If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life for those who sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death. I don’t say that he should make a request concerning this. 17. All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death. 18. We know that whoever is born of God doesn’t sin, but he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one doesn’t touch him. 19. We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 20. We know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. 21. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. – Bible Offline

Romans: 3. 31. Do we then nullify the law through faith? May it never be! No, we establish the law. – Bible Offline

Matthew: 5. 17. “Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill. 18. For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished. 19. Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. 20. For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Amen! What law do we establish?

Matthew: 19. 17. He said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” 18. He said to him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder.’ ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ ‘You shall not steal.’ ‘You shall not offer false testimony.’ 19. ‘Honor your father and mother.’ And, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'” 20. The young man said to him, “All these things I have observed from my youth. What do I still lack?” 21. Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” – Bible Offline

2 Peter: 1. 1. Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: 2. Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3. seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue; 4. by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust. 5. Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; 6. and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control patience; and in patience godliness; 7. and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love. 8. For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful to the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9. For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins. 10. Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble. 11. For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. 12. Therefore I will not be negligent to remind you of these things, though you know them, and are established in the present truth. 13. I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you; 14. knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. 15. Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure. 16. For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17. For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” 18. We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain. 19. We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the morning star arises in your hearts: 20. knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation. 21. For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit. – Bible Offline

Matthew :24. 4. Jesus answered them, “Be careful that no one leads you astray. 5. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will lead many astray. 6. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren’t troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet. 7. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places. 8. But all these things are the beginning of birth pains. 9. Then they will deliver you up to oppression, and will kill you. You will be hated by all of the nations for my name’s sake. 10. Then many will stumble, and will deliver up one another, and will hate one another. 11. Many false prophets will arise, and will lead many astray. 12. Because iniquity will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold. 13. But he who endures to the end, the same will be saved. 14. This Good News of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. 15. “When, therefore, you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16. then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17. Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take out things that are in his house. 18. Let him who is in the field not return back to get his clothes. 19. But woe to those who are with child and to nursing mothers in those days! 20. Pray that your flight will not be in the winter, nor on a Sabbath, 21. for then there will be great oppression, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever will be. 22. Unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved. But for the sake of the chosen ones, those days will be shortened. 23. “Then if any man tells you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ,’ or, ‘There,’ don’t believe it. 24. For there will arise false christs, and false prophets, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones. 25. “Behold, I have told you beforehand. 26. If therefore they tell you, ‘Behold, he is in the wilderness,’ don’t go out; ‘Behold, he is in the inner rooms,’ don’t believe it. 27. For as the lightning flashes from the east, and is seen even to the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28. For wherever the carcass is, there is where the vultures gather together. 29. But immediately after the oppression of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken; 30. and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky. Then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. 31. He will send out his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other. 32. “Now from the fig tree learn this parable. When its branch has now become tender, and puts forth its leaves, you know that the summer is near. 33. Even so you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34. Most certainly I tell you, this generation will not pass away, until all these things are accomplished. 35. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. 36. But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37. “As the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 38. For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ship, 39. and they didn’t know until the flood came, and took them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 40. Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and one will be left; 41. two women grinding at the mill, one will be taken and one will be left. 42. Watch therefore, for you don’t know in what hour your Lord comes. 43. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 44. Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don’t expect, the Son of Man will come. 45. “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has set over his household, to give them their food in due season? 46. Blessed is that servant whom his lord finds doing so when he comes. 47. Most certainly I tell you that he will set him over all that he has. 48. But if that evil servant should say in his heart, ‘My lord is delaying his coming,’ 49. and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with the drunkards, 50. the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doesn’t expect it, and in an hour when he doesn’t know it, 51. and will cut him in pieces, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. There is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be. – Bible Offline

Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows

Reading 1 1 Tm 3:1-13

Beloved, this saying is trustworthy:
whoever aspires to the office of bishop desires a noble task.
Therefore, a bishop must be irreproachable,
married only once, temperate, self-controlled,
decent, hospitable, able to teach,
not a drunkard, not aggressive, but gentle,
not contentious, not a lover of money.
He must manage his own household well,
keeping his children under control with perfect dignity;
for if a man does not know how to manage his own household,
how can he take care of the Church of God?
He should not be a recent convert,
so that he may not become conceited
and thus incur the Devil’s punishment.
He must also have a good reputation among outsiders,
so that he may not fall into disgrace, the Devil’s trap.Similarly, deacons must be dignified, not deceitful,
not addicted to drink, not greedy for sordid gain,
holding fast to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.
Moreover, they should be tested first;
then, if there is nothing against them,
let them serve as deacons.
Women, similarly, should be dignified, not slanderers,
but temperate and faithful in everything.
Deacons may be married only once
and must manage their children and their households well.
Thus those who serve well as deacons gain good standing
and much confidence in their faith in Christ Jesus.

First Reading discerned with Matthew 19:16-30

Brothers and Sister, let today’s first reading may  discourage those who wish to follow CHRIST and server in his vineyard. The Gospel of CHRIST calls on ALL to follow him. And if we are to live the TRUTH, Then the Gospel of CHRIST must reign supreme. This is why he came to show all the way to salvation And employed all that answered the call to work for his Kingdom.

Matthew 19: -16-30
let’s take a look at –
The story of The Rich Young man:

16: Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”

  • (Jesus already assessed his heart and saw that this man was just seeking praise from man, so Christ took him to school).

17: Why do you ask me about what is good? Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.”

  • (This man kept on pushing for recognition/ validation)

18: Which ones? The man inquired.

  • (What do you mean, which ones – do you think that God would waist his time to give us a law that he did not want us to obey, is what some of us would have responded or concealed in our thoughts)

Jesus replied,

  • (by listing seven of the commandments, but deliberately left out the First and most important law of them all. Any guesses of what the omitted command is?

“Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,

19 honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself.”

  • (Perhaps praising himself or gloating with pride the rich man responded)

20 ” All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”

  • (Now you know that Christ saw this question coming before it came, so without acknowledging the young mans self praise)

21Jesus answered, If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

  • ( Remember that all important commandment that was deliberately omitted? Go ahead and tell us, you know that you want to be the one to answer this question, so go ahead and place the answer on the response line).

22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

  • (He was not ready for the TRUTH. He was probably use to receiving praises of his righteousness from those who benefited from his earthly wealth).

23Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

  • (So, is their hope for the rich? Let’s find out, so be very attentive)

24 Again I tell you it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

  • ( ooh no, is all hope lost? Let’s continue)

25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “who then can be saved?”

26 Jesus looked at them and said

  • (probably tickled with the expression of confusion and fear on the face of his disciples).

“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible).”

  • (Praise be to the God of impossibilities).
  • (I can just imagine some of them breathing a sigh of relief, while others proclaimed within themselves that Jesus almost stopped them from breathing with the suspense of hope lost.
  • When a man loses faith in the possibility of entering into the kingdom, then his life here on earth is already over. What will be the point for him to obey any humane laws or examine his conscious.
It now becomes a race for the survival of the fittest.
  • All men have faith or hope in something, but if these beliefs that help us try to be better human beings continues to be twisted, challenged and even targeted for destruction. A society of moral bankruptcy will then emerge to lead creation to its end.
  • Faith and hope must be restored with the whole TRUTH. And these truths are found, clarified and simplified in the Gospels of Christ. You can still walk with him by reading the the accounts of his disciples while you are in the spirit. Please stop digging and searching for things to use to discredit the reminder of the Gospel TRUTHS or looking for passages to try to suppress, confuse / contradict the TRUTH.
  • Christians, when in doubt, be assured that the Gospel of Christ reigns supreme because it is the word of God perfected in the flesh.
  • (OK let’s finish up this chapter).

27Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?”

  • ( You see, every one is interested in a reward for their service, even if it is just praise. When we follow Christ and put him first, we will not leave his presence sad and brokenhearted like the rich man. We will no longer be just his friends. We
  • You and I!,  Us!, will now share in his heavenly inheritance as his brothers and sisters.
  • (Pay attention to how Christ restores hope and fuels faith with his answer to Peter(The Rock).

28Jesus said to his disciples, I tell you the truth,

  • (throughout the Gospels, you will often here the Lord begin his responses with “I tell you the Truth.”that factor alone qualifies the Gospel as the map for  salvation. Can I get an Amen, somebody!).
  • At the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
  • (through Christ the gentiles have been adopted, I don’t know about you, but I plan to squeeze in that line that leads to that mansion that Christ spoke about. You are welcomed to join us in this race of life).

29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will  inherit eternal life.

  • ( Do you see these words manifest today just as he said? Good news my brothers and sister in the Lord we have evidence of this TRUTH here and now).
  • Just take a look at the lives of our Clergyman, Nuns, Sisters, Ministers, Deacons, all the way down to the Lay Catholics and discern for yourself the manifestation of these promises in our world today.
  • Look at how richly blessed and loved our POPE is today. He has children, brothers and sisters in every nation, our father in heaven & the mother of God is now his mother (can we please get in on some of these holy relationships? For this reason among many others, we call our beloved POPE, Father.)
  • The house offered to him is a palace reserved for saints in waiting here on earth and the lands of the earth are placed in his care to  Shepard the sheep’s.
  • The seas are filled with souls waiting to be caught with the reels of the Holy Spirit and the bait of the life giving Eucharist.
  • Now, to crown it all, all expenses are covered by his Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, of which, I am a proud, yet humble member. Brothers and Sister, if all these treasures can be received here on earth, I can not even begin to imagine the glorious treasures stored for those who follow and live this TRUTH faithful. Can you picture it? I don’t think that my mind can arrive at that level of gloriousness. If yours can, please do tell!)

30 but many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.

  • Brothers and Sisters in Christ do not be deceived with the Word and do not be discouraged in rendering service/ worship to the King of Kings.
  • Saint Matthew who presents us with the accounts of these truth’s was once judged unfit to follow Christ by men,
Saint Mary Magdalene (once judged as an unfit sinner by others) was richly blessed and highly favoured with the first sighting of our risen Lord.
  • Saint Paul used the same zeal and passion that he used to prosecute the Christians to capture  many souls for the kingdom,
Now look at how Christ was accused, tried and crucified without prof of guilt by men who wanted to kill the TRUTH. Even in our world today, the mother of God continues to gracefully suffer the sorrows of blasphemy by men.
Man must speak, but God will have the final say! this journey will not be easy, it has never been.
Sorrowful heart of Our Mother Mary, Pray for us!
Be encouraged and continue to Live Catholic Strong!
Praise and glory belongs to our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Honor to mary, for through her labor and sorrows, the WORD was made Flesh and became Man!
